Saw the new Superman movie yesterday. It was great! I loved it! I really missed our Big Blue Boy Scout so much 😩 I missed the Superman that cared about people. Honestly I just really liked ALL the characters. They did a great job making them all people and not empty caricatures.

Just want to take a moment to shout out the international reporters helping us get the real story out. When an 80-year-old veteran with a walker is hauled off with his hands zip-tied behind his back, and the media spins it as a “threatening breach” of a police barricade

To the millions who showed up today.

You participated in one of the largest single day protests in American history.

And you did it in a week that was the most authoritarian week of the Trump presidency.

It matters.

Thank you. And keep building.

I will be damned if I allow a bunch of Confederate-waving January 6th apologists give the American people a lecture on flag waving.

There is ZERO reason to enter an argument about patriotism with people who still worship traitors to America 150+ years later.

They. Are. Breaking. The. Law.

Another Library Newsroom meeting tonight — so heartening to hear how everyday folks navigate local bureaucracy, tap local contacts to investigate their stories (when will the rec center re-open?!), and to watch them translate their neighborhood identity into a graphic design

New Mexico conservation leaders said a recent proposed budget from the White House which proposes billions in cuts for water, public lands gut protections.

"It’s like yanking everything all out at once, you’re going to have programs across the nation that will collapse,” one said.
Trump’s budget agenda: Billions of cuts for conservation, public lands • Source New Mexico
Billions in proposed cuts of federal conservation projects and land management programs would leave New Mexicans vulnerable, advocates say.

Even *if* you accept Stephen Miller’s (textually, historically, and morally indefensible) claim that undocumented immigrants are not entitled to due process, you’d *still* need due process to ensure that the individuals at issue are, in fact, undocumented.

His argument fails even on its own terms.

The entirety of the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health was wiped out last night in a form letter sent by RFK Jr.

NIOSH is an agency in the CDC that investigates workplace hazards and finds solutions. It protects workers, so it’s gone. Even firefighters.

Not sure who needs to hear this, but any govt official who violates someone's constitutional rights -- and is acting outside the scope of their lawful authority -- can be PERSONALLY liable in a civil suit.

ICE officers. Cabinet members. White House staffers. Even the president.

SpaceX is proposing a subscription service where the government would pay to access the technology, rather than own it.

The news moves so fast. I know this is old news now and Sen Van Hollen has met with Abrego Garcia but I wanna share this for both my own records and for us to still grill our representatives about.
So, Sen. Van Hollen, who flew to El Salvador on 4/16 to visit CECOT, see Abrego Garcia & bring him home was told by VP that he couldn't arrange for him to get in, but somehow, for Sen. Riley Moore (R-W.Va) it was no problemo? And - he got to take selfies. Along with at least a dozen other Senators.

One of the first big things I published as exec editor at @theprospect.bsky.social was an explainer on how digital ad markets had been polluted by monopoly. It was written by Dina Srinivasan, who wound up being a key adviser to governments on Google adtech cases.
Today DOJ won that case.
How Digital Advertising Markets Really Work
They’re shaping our market, our democracy—our entire reality. If we’re going to fix them, we need to understand them.

What nondisabled people are missing is beyond the fact that this is ugly and false, it’s completely in line with the eugenicist playbook. Convince the public that “these people” live sad, unproductive lives, that we need to eradicate this “disease,” and then eventually, eradicate the people.
