Trickle-down economics was always a sham.

Nothing has ever trickled down.

And imagine that strategy worked anywhere, ever

The far right are opposing all good EU policies and supporting all bad ones because
- they want to be able to criticise EU policies and
- they assume nobody will call them out for it

U-turn Ursula isn’t just failing to implement them, she’s actively weakening them via the digital omnibus
French President Emmanuel Macron said Brussels is too slow in its handling of probes into American Big Tech companies due to U.S. pressure over the EU’s digital laws.

…when drafting its plans to do a U(rsula)-turn on environmental protection
The European Commission failed to follow proper lawmaking procedure when drafting its plan to cut red tape, the EU ombudsman said in a damaging assessment released today.

Truly wonderful that the Commission has at least one set of vertebra.
Truly awful that this l leadership couldn’t be brought to bear to stop the omnibus of Ursula U-turn.
And truly a mistake not to see us as people first, not just “consumers“.
The European digital rule-book is not up for negotiation.
We, Europeans, have adopted our rules to ensure fair markets and to protect consumers rights while backing Europe’s digital future.
It’s our duty to preserve our values and to defend our people. 🇪🇺

Germany and France have long taken different paths on tech policy amid US dominance.

Now, the two powers are converging in a rare show of unity.

Toxic abusers lovebomb and then coerce their victims by being unpredictable.
It is Trump’s only move.
Trump praising Mamdani is entirely consistent.
It is neither a realignment nor even remotely surprising.
I can’t quite put it into words, but Trump praising Mamdani on the same day that MTG resigns in opposition to “big Tech, big Pharma, the war complex and big donors” feels like a harbinger of realignment.

There is a political earthquake trembling beneath the surface waiting to break through.
