I love how Republicans just make stuff up about cities their audience will never go to. Portland burned to the ground. London is largely Muslim. San Francisco is overrun by muskoxen. In Tokyo, dogs walk people. Boston's gravity is at a 45° angle.

Fiasco is an all-time name for a cat.

I'm kind of hoping that's their point, otherwise...

I'm a communications engineer and information theory absolutely has directly useful engineering insights. It applies in dozens of different engineering fields. Just not, so far as I can tell, to LLMs.

"See information theory" is not a useful citation, and Shannon's theory says nothing useful about the training or operation of LLMs.

we don't get these in California! I miss seeing that thin green oyster lip on the horizon as a huge storm rolls in.

like fuck the Dodgers, of course, but is that a totenkopf serape?

That's not how current, or USB, work. If you draw more than half an amp, the USB outlet will cut off the power, not current-regulate it. So you know the device won't draw more than half an amp at 5V. So if the eBay one works, then a 2A supply is fine.
June 17, 2025 at 12:07 AM
It cannot consume more than 0.5A while charging, or it would trigger the overcurrent protection in a USB circuit. So if the eBay cord works, a 5V/2A supply will work fine as well.
June 17, 2025 at 12:00 AM
The USB-to-light cord could not include an integrated charger, either.
June 16, 2025 at 11:50 PM
The photo of the replacement supply she found was a standard voltage-regulated 5V supply, which implies the charging circuitry is in the device.
June 16, 2025 at 11:48 PM
That should work.
June 16, 2025 at 11:44 PM
The important part is there is nothing special or specific about that power supply except the connector, which is called a coaxial or barrel plug. Any 5V power supply rated to 0.5A or more will work.
June 16, 2025 at 11:40 PM
You can use any 5V power supply, or a USB phone charger with an appropriate adapter. I can't tell the plug size, but Amazon sells cheap adapter kits with a whole array of them.

This was wave soldered, not reflowed. Probably best to remove and inspect for cold joints, and just hit any suspicious joints with an iron.

Leave it to a lawyer to conflate legal with ethical.

How could you possibly make this argument without essentially misunderstanding Smith's own in this essay? Is your understanding of writing's value limited only to the elegance of its style?
