The more "in the world" I become - kids in public school, getting to know neighbors, etc - the more I realize that the caricature that many pastors and speakers paint of "the world" is just downright wrong.

It's my birthday today! I am 34. I entered my 30s optimistic and hopeful. I ended up being pummeled by traumas great and small. My brother almost died, I had a miscarriage, close friends abandoned me to my despair. Numerous other griefs and losses. +
