I don't know whether the Green's would be able to keep their promises if elected, but I do know none of the others will, and I trust the Greens' intentions more than anyone else.
At the Budget, the Green Party's message is clear: Cut Bills. Tax Billionaires.

For years I've paid the subscription for the OS maps app that gives me the complete topographic maps of the UK on my phone. I've recently learned that the French equivalent - Cartes IGN - is as good and completely free. I'm wondering what other European countries have a similar service.

When Chartwell came into our care, the Churchill family requested that there always be ‘a marmalade cat named Jock, with a white bib and four white socks, in comfortable residence at Chartwell’ - and to that, we hold true.

I saw this when the Albion ran screenings at the Amex stadium a while ago. A great feelgood story, not that I'm at all partisan or anything.

Well said @georgemonbiot.bsky.social

I've thought for some time that the modern labour party sits somewhere to the right of Margaret Thatcher.Even the limited hopes I had of this government have been disappointed.

Why, you might ask, do the BBC and Sky News, casting their editorial guidelines to the wind, keep giving massive airtime to the far right, while shutting out leftwing voices? Don't their bosses understand the likely consequences?
Only one explanation now remains.
They do.
And it is what they want.

I'm lazy with tabs and windows. Loads of windows and tabs open on many desktops, leading to high CPU and memory use. I just found the Firefox task manager:

Worst memory hogs: google and amazon. Now I know to close those when I'm not using them.

Happy Friday, folks! A plea from a humble editor. If you have read and loved any of my anthologies I would really appreciate a review out there somewhere. Doesn't have to be Amazon or Goodreads - could be Waterstones, or a blog. Anthologies don't draw the same fanfare as novels. 😞

i am going to be really blunt for a moment: publishing is a brutal enough business to try and write things for an audience that doesn't read your kind of work anyway.

write the things you like to write for as long as you can. we get to do that! relish it and hold onto it.

okay i'm done.
