I like that in most of Europe, the English that is learned is British English. Means there's most often a u in all the right places (colour, humour, etc)

Best video I caught of my daughter this year is her, sitting on the potty in her Elsa dress, mimicking every bird sound in her birds of England sounds book. With varying degrees of success. It is delightful.

Had to explain to my toddler, after she expressed opposition to my choice of music the other day, that in our house, Mariah Carey is the queen of Christmas and there will be no discussion. Some things must be held firm even in the face of meltdowns.

I love my new job. And I'm finding that the commute (1 hour by train, 1:45 door to door) gives me a Severance-like ability to compartmentalize work life vs home life.

Partner and I have agreed we won't be participating in this silly elf on the shelf nonsense with our child. It didn't exist when we were children, so it needn't exist now.

Christmas cookies are baked! This year it's Mailänderli and Orangeplätzli (two types of Swiss sugar cookies), ginger cookies, chocolate chip cookies and Nanaimo bars. Toddler helped with rolling, cutting and decorating and it shows 😂 But she loved it, so worth it.

Celebrating Canadian Thanksgiving in Europe is basically impossible because turkeys aren't reared to be at slaughtering maturity in early October. The first useful ones are available in time for American Thanksgiving. Might need to find an alternative bird. Looking into goose...
