sometimes I think about the microeconomy of commissions and get emotional if only for the fact there are many artists who are able to make a living based on the interest and good will of fellow working class folks who want to indulge in art. I hold onto that when I start to despair.

one thing you never have to do and should never waste your energy on doing is defending people in positions of power. their power and your support should be conditional, never a given. none of them deserve your defense.
