I'm preparing to send two copies of 'kinscapes' to Germany tomorrow. Only three more copies left and then that's it (the pamphlet is out of print), these are the last copies. If anyone would like to get their hands on one, drop me a line. £5 each plus postage. I'm open to creative exchanges, too.

I'm absolutely flabbergasted to be included in this great line-up of poets! And so touched that my poem will be published on the very day my mother, who adored her grandmother, would have celebrated her 82nd birthday. Many congrats to all whose work was chosen and many thanks to @markantonyowen.com!

Another art therapy exercise: this time, the prompt was to create a landscape where one feels calm, and to which one can return whenever necessary.

Another bit of art therapy drawing: the task was to create a vessel for one's stress and one for one's calm.

And in between two states of flow: sketching the old masters and reading a poem among a welcoming, good-humoured tribe of different generations of poets, I went to Edinburgh's St Giles Cathedral and lit a candle for my parents – which called forth tears, in just the right place for them.

There was laughter, there were tears, & there was plenty of good poetry to be heard at today's launch of 'Stramash', the poetry anthology of the Edinburgh School of Poets. It's a beautifully produced book (which would make for a very nice stocking filler), and I'm honoured to have two poems in it.

Spent some time in the good company of Monsieur Monet today. Trying to match his oil colour mastery with a soft pencil sketch was a doomed undertaking right from the start, but I learnt an awful lot just looking and thinking about what I saw. Sketching, for me, is healing, and an escape from words.

My parents got married on this day, the 11th of November, at 11 minutes past 11 in the morning, in 1967. They were both in their early twenties. Don't they look young in this picture? Decades of life still ahead of them, & plenty of change, including becoming parents, twice. I will always love them.

Sunday so far: a poetry rejection, a family wander in the beautiful wet, cooking a light meal for the tummy-troubled dog, and some pencil gymnastics.

Mr Scott is ready for Remembrance Day. After many years of sadly (& for various reasons) not going to live (classical) music events, I was lucky to attend a concert at the Usher Hall in Edinburgh yesterday. Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Williams, & the world premiere of a piece by Cheryl Frances-Hoad 1/2

An dem Tag, an dem mein Vater starb, habe ich ein Trauertagebuch begonnen, in dem ich seither Notizen mache, vor mich hin kritzele und auch mal etwas einklebe. Alles ist erlaubt. Nichts muss. Der gestrige Farbeintrag hat Spaß gemacht.

The dog turns my head towards a fleeting rainbow in the morning outside. On the bookshelves, acorn hats, stones & leaves accumulate among colour pencils, brushes, knickknacks & an old cup from dad. When I speak to my parents, I look to the sky. A friend says, love is behind us & also lies before us.
