If you think about it for a minute, "fan service" doesn't have to be sexual. It's just something pandering or pleasent for the sake of appealing to fans.
It's similar to "nerd" or "incel" which evolved into general insults of social "losers" rather than their original meanings.

Sentai’s Big O Blu-ray release *really* needed better QC. The subtitles are a serious step down from the Bandai’s release. They tried to touch up a few things but did a sloppy job with it.
