Great thread on what’s happening in the UK on queue reform, for those who might have been closely following our work at @berkeleylabemp.bsky.social on US issues but would like to hear some of the parallels across the globe!
At the airport and have managed to look through the UK government’s new plans for hitting their ambitious Clean Power 2030 targets. @carbonbrief.org have already put out a nice summary, so instead here’s a thread on one of the core issues in more detail – *fixing the grid connection queue*🔌💡(1/20) 🧵
Analysis: How the UK plans to reach clean power by 2030 - Carbon Brief

The FERC complaint against PJM filed by consumer advocates is 🔥. Apropos of the FERC interconnection proceeding, Montalvo's affidavit notes:
"High prices cannot bring new generation into the market more quickly than it can be interconnected[.]"
Hard to argue!🔌💡

Kind of a big deal. This week, FERC approved filings from MISO and SPP that will finance construction of high-voltage transmission to enable the connection of 30 GW of wind, solar, and storage. Yet, many clean energy developers opposed the plan - 🔌💡 elibrary.ferc.gov/eLibrary/fil...

🧵 How did Texas interconnect ~70% more capacity than any US market btwn 2021-2023? The answer explains, in part, why 25 parties just filed w/ FERC supporting streamlined interconnection service (ERIS), with no clear opposition—signaling a promising area for bipartisan reform. (1/15) #EnergySky
