This. The ongoing struggle of the left is winning people over to the side of marginalized groups. This can not be reconciled by abandoning the marginalized to make a platform that is only about economic class. Until this issue is addressed, there will be no realistic path forward.

He was ousted less than a week ago, and governments are genuinely sending people back? Syria hasn't even formed a new government yet.
Austria says it will begin deporting Syrian refugees following the toppling of Bashar al-Assad’s regime. Several other European governments, including Belgium, France, Greece, Germany and the United Kingdom, say they will pause asylum applications despite the power vacuum and instability in Syria.

Few, if any, people who have lived on benefits would believe the qualifications are not strict enough. I remember needing food stamps in Florida, and I only qualified for $25/month. That's not enough for a week of food for most individuals, much less one month.
TW Benefits

Toxic newspaper storylines and political speeches have a very real impact on public attitudes, which, in turn, influence not only what policies are passed but also the lived experience—often a distressing one—of being on benefits. Please complain whenever you encounter toxic press.

Republican bills are like Monkey's Paws. What's the catch on this one? Maybe they just haven't added the kicking puppies clause yet. Broken clocks are right twice a day sometimes.

So frustrating to live in the heart of one of America's largest urban cores yet have to walk 15 minutes up or down a steep hill in either direction to have access to fresh produce. It's an #accessibility issue and an urban food desert.

If you choose to visit family for the holidays and have concerns, think about what disengaging looks like for you. What helps you feel better when you're feeling distressed? What options for places to disengage to are accessible to you? If necessary, what does an early exit plan look like for you?

During the 2024 election cycle, I was taken aback by how much of a backseat universal healthcare has taken in public discourse. We didn't stop wanting it. Instead, the two positions were maintaining the status quo and abolishing the Affordable Care Act.

Remember this: Macron appointed a conservative prime minister because the left party won bigger than his in a coordinated effort with his party to beat the right, and he decided that he would rather let the right win than have leftists in power.
Marine Le Pen’s ultimatum to French Prime Minister Michel Barnier, even after he caved on a key demand from her party, lays bare the unprecedented clout the far-right leader now wields in Paris’ halls of power.

There's surprisingly few studies on the mental health benefits of third places, but from the ones I have read, it is clear that access to a safe place outside of home is desirable and, unfortunately, it is missing in many places.
