Tonight Þvörusleikir (Spoon Licker), the 4th of Iceland's 13 Yule Lads, comes down from the mountains. He sneaks in to lick used þvörur (large wooden cooking spoons).

Children leave their shoes out for him in the window. He gives the good ones a small gift or a treat. The bad ones get a potato.

Since it won't be on exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery in DC, seems like we ought to share this painting widely.

The books we love when we're young are the ones that make us readers. They shape us at the deepest levels, and they stay with us forever. So whatever else you do - please never stop reading books with kids, and encouraging them to read. Please never stop changing lives! #literacy

Just reading up on the calamitous Pope Francis kerning scandal.
The kerning on the pope's tomb is a travesty
The internet is up in arms about Pope Francis's tomb, and it's all because of lettering.

One of the coolest things about publishing a book in Norway is that the gov will automatically buy 1k copies, 1.5K if its a children's book, these will then be distributed to all the libraries.
