Just found out my 1st grader got in a small fist fight at school. The reason: he was defending a socially-awkward friend who was getting picked on. We’ll teach him to find alternate ways to stand up for someone at school, but I am proud of him for taking a stand at all.

The lack of mainstream coverage of regular huge protests reminds me of a talk from a Twitter employees who explained that they had to drop BLM off the Trending Tags section because otherwise it would have been there permanently. The modern media environment has no appetite for sustained movements.

With the Texas redistricting, I'm more convinced than ever that Democrats need to stop playing nice and prioritizing decorum. I want to live in a country where lawmakers can act in good faith when they disagree, but that ship sailed years ago and it's rapidly picking up speed as it sails away.
