Good post. This is my personal primary complaint about the MTA ending the monthly pass.

Monthly passes encourage ridership: you no longer think about whether to use transit, you already have it covered.

I took a bath in my too-small tub, read the Charter Revision Commission report and came up with this explainer on the ballot referendum questions about housing policy nygroove.nyc/housing-refe...
What do the housing ballot referendums mean and how should I vote on them?
Understand the big proposals that claim to streamline new affordable housing

This article feels very disingenuous, to say The Bronx had no investment is a lie. They were the first to get countdown clocks on the number lines and a whole ATS system upgrade (which they’re planning to upgrade again in preparation for true CBTC) while the rest of the system received no updates.

Everyone is talking fare hikes and OMNY but I’m fixated on the fact that the entire G line is about to have cell service in the tunnels

Granted, I only took about 4 Metro rides on my last trip to DC, but using their new open payment system, after each ride, the charge appeared immediately, unlike OMNY which sometimes has a long delay (im taking 24h+) between when you tap and when the charge appears.

Oh, we ARE capable of feeling compassion for victims of a natural disaster? I thought we were supposed to shame them for who they voted for. Or is that only for blue states? Sorry the rule are confusing here.

I’m not allowed to use my air conditioner when it’s 100 degrees because we need to reserve the grid for power-slurping AI’s to generate videos of cats diving in the olympics

the same people falsely claiming that LA is currently on fire are the same ones who didn’t give a shit when parts of LA were actually on fire in January

Some new RUSH signage is already up
May 13, 2025 at 8:00 PM
Turns out they just removed it, and shrunk the fare control area to just the platform (no longer including the bus stops). Goodbye to the last remaining intermodal subway terminal in the city 😔

People who work for companies that rely on imports are being let go like crazy right now because their companies are being forced to downsize. I don’t think people realize how bad this is going to get.

East 98th Street entrance to the L at Canarsie might be the only subway entrance that STILL has no OMNY reader. Did MTA forget? Or did they acknowledge that everyone just walks in through the bus roadway
