Silent Hill 2, 18 hours in: OK, everything in this game is clearly metaphorical, unclear if this is James' bad dream or is it maybe a coping mechanism for something terrible that happened to his wife? Trying to keep him from remembering? I guess we'll see

Any Democrat looking for a 50-state sweep strategy for 2028, I suggest "All leftists in America to have 'Noam Chomsky was more intimately connected to Epstein than Bill Clinton' tattooed backwards on their heads so they have to see it every time they look in the mirror for the rest of their lives"?
MIT's famous linguistic professor Noam Chomsky was in regular and close contact with sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, according to a review of emails published by the U.S. House Oversight Committee. In the documents, Chomsky described Epstein as a "highly valued friend."

If you all want an actual Most Woke Opinion, it’s that romanticizing backwater patriarchs who only have themselves to blame for their ills is a betrayal of every battered housewife, lynched minority, and queer kid cowering in the closet.

The answer to the question "Will companies lower prices just because it is possible but not compulsory for them to do so?" Is the same as the answer to "Will a seven-legged octopus come and dance a jig in my front room while playing the bagpipes, just because I've cleared enough space for it?"
KARL: Tariffs have been removed from some food items. How soon do we expect prices on those goods will go down?

HASSETT: The prices for those goods weren't necessarily going up just because of tariffs

KARL: So they might not go down?

Thinking again about all those decades we had to listen to smug self-righteous wankers explaining how vital it was that IPs be allowed to enter the public domain because it was necessary to avoid the impoverishment of art and imagination
Betty Boop gets her own horror movie with BOOP.

It's impossible to run a country the size & power of the US without making decisions that will result in some people dying. And if you are to blame for those deaths can be a fraught moral argument. But in this case, Trump & Musk murdered these people as if they put a gun to their heads and fired.
One analytical model shows that, as of November 5th, the dismantling of U.S.A.I.D. has already caused the deaths of 600,000 people, two-thirds of them children. https://newyorkermag.visitlink.me/jUzNSc

Contrary to all the mistaken claims, this is in fact history's first known use of the "P.S., please excuse shaky handwriting" joke. (Beating out Barry Cryers first utilisation, in a sketch for The Two Ronnies, by almost a whole six months.)

Every time I try to describe the nebulous affect of AI writing it comes out not quite right, because the writing itself is so insubstantial; it's like an optical illusion where every time you try to look directly at it it disappears.
AI writing has a weird and sometimes unnerving way of being highly descriptive, yet somehow without describing anything solid at all.

NEW: The End of the Line: the centrepiece of Saudi Arabia’s Neom gigaproject - a 500m tall, 170km long wall-like building intended ultimately to house 9 million people - can’t get out of the ground, say more than 20 former Neom architects, engineers and senior executives.
