I found them working in Borders Books. The paperback for The Amber Spyglass had just come out. There were towers of them everywhere. Te trilogy was promptly thrust into my hands by kids department manager “you’ll wanna read these”.and yes I did.

I’m not gonna lie, I loved the HP books, BUT His Dark Materials are absolutely my favourite series of all time. On the regular I find another thing, another reference that I don’t recognise before, but do now. The world building juat leaves me gob smacked.

News just in,Good Omens fans are feral, water is wet, Freddos are no longer 10p, and trains in Britain are unable to navigate typical British weather.

I demonstrated to a student how we used to write each other notes in class, and then fold them into that weird lil chunky triangle, so we could exchange them between classes…”why didn’t you just snap her?” Kid I can and will launch you into the sun.

Indeed they would. She used to do events for Johnny Walkers. Her whiskey cocktails were phenomenal.

A Tommy tippy full of martini sounds delightful. My mother used to pour hers into sprite bottles, so she could take them into the cinema with her. I always marvelled at her ingenuity.

You should absolutely 100% do that. Though make sure your martinis have some sort of non spilling container. Nobody wants martinis all over their pillow fort. Like candy floss in water, all the fun dissolves.
