Absolutely. If you want staff to engage with customers you have to give them the time to do it without getting in trouble. Being helpful and courteous takes time. Self-checkout, locked cabinets, and shortstaffing doesn't improve service. It makes engaging with customers a burden and distraction.

I had a job with similar rules. Corporate employers don't realize that well provided for employees who enjoy their jobs don't need to be reminded to be happy and interact with customers. Over-worked and understaffed people, aware they don't have enough time to complete their daily tasks, do.

It's interesting to see the challenge Victor experiences when The Creature can't communicate. It's exactly the experience of a new parent who struggles before their baby starts smiling and being interactive. Then we begin to see the wild intelligence at hand that we are shaping.

Seeing an unprepared father struggle to use the inadequate tools provided by his parents made me glad to have kindness shared with me so I am able to be that much better an example for my child.

I don't disagree that china is probably using tiktok to influence folks. Just like the domestic platforms are. Let's be real. Right now Meta and X are bending the knee. The current lack of content moderation is so bad now that I can't use instagram without seeing a reel of someone dying violently
