I remember being surprised how small the McKean piece was. I’ve always assumed they were huge. Also it was interesting to see the areas on Steve Dillon’s work where things had been changed and had been either tippexed out or covered up with masking tape. Absolutely fascinating.

I think the first time for me was in the early 90s at a Comic Art exhibition in the Falmer Art Centre near Brighton. I met Ian Miller at that Exhibition so definitely saw his work. I also recall seeing some Dave McKean art & some of Steve Dillon’s work from 2000ad….

20 years ago I was given this as a birthday present. To this day I still have no idea what exactly it is.

Hope you don’t mind the reply, Harsha. Just wondered if you’d seen Westbourne magazine this month? I went to 2 of the public consultation meetings & signed the petition. Sadly the surgery was allegedly sold off way back in 2024 to a company owned by 2 doctors at Emsworth. I’m totally dumbfounded.

Crikey!! I used to have this on VHS back in the day. Picked it up at a car boot sale out of curiosity many years back. Seem to recall it’s a real oddity. Thanks for the video link. This is the first time I’ve actually ever seen it referenced anywhere else.

It was amazing, Pete. You would have loved it. I still actually have one of the postcards I picked up from the gift shop at the time. The exhibition was in the Pompidou Centre probably about 1986/87ish.

Well I know what it is (for me anyway), it's "strong lines on creamy background". See also Giacometti's paintings, which caused my head to explode when I first came across some in an encyclopedia of art as a teen back in caveman times

Love Giacometti!! Always remember going to see an exhibition of his paintings and sculptures during my art college days. They were amazing. This was also, of course, during those self same ‘caveman’ times!!

Thanks for this, Paula. Interesting to see an earlier incarnation of the game. It was 2015 when I played. Crazy to have created it in survival mode. That must have been really difficult for her. To my shame I’ve only ever used creative mode. Keep meaning to give the proper game a go at some point.

Sounds awesome, Paula. Does she still have a visual of it? That creative mode is so addictive. I don’t think I played any other game while mucking about with that.
