This is so stupid. You'd need a vast array of solar panels to provide power, but far worse would be the the amount of radiators needed to deal with the heat because it is so hard to get rid of heat in space. So a huge number of rocket launches plus launches for maintenance. That's just to start...
Space-based AI data centers are Big Tech’s latest fad and Silicon Valley’s newest investable venture.

Yet, scientists who study space remain skeptical of the idea.

My big take-away from the Dem victories last night is that we saw candidates messaging heavily on affordability over-performing. I think Trump and the Republicans are losing the confidence of voters that they are doing anything about feelings of economic insecurity and that is poison for 2026.

So far Trump has brought us the breaching of the Capital Building and the destruction of the White House east wing. What's going to happen to the Supreme Court building?

Lot of rapture talk today and that's just silly. Obviously ChatGPT 666 will be the Antichrist so we have some time still.

The more I learn about how LLMs work, the more amazing brains seem. Computers are massively better at raw computation and storing data, but brains are massively better at learning and adapting.

Doug is the hero we both need and deserve.
This is Doug. He came to the rescue when a gaggle of geese was blocking his boy's way home. 14/10 good job Doug (TT: _instagramber)

It's the revisions to job growth in May and June that really get me. An unexpectedly weak month may not mean and might get revised upward, but the drastic reductions for the two previous months seems bad.

US job growth stalls: Just 73,000 jobs added in July, with ‘stunning’ downward revisions to recent months | CNN Business
The US job market slowed substantially in July and was much weaker than first estimated for prior months, suggesting President Donald Trump’s trade policy may be stifling hiring.

I want a doughnut. It's been a really long time since I've had a doughnut. I also want the administration to stop shipping people to a prison in El Salvador possibly forever without due process, but a doughnut seems more doable in the short term. Now I feel guilty for wanting a doughnut.

Every lede like this is a fundamental journalistic failure.

Dark humor about what is going on is a totally legit way of processing it, but to be serious for a minute. Enough GOP reps know what Trump is doing is insane and destructive and could stop it. A lot of people will suffer, a lot of people will die in despair. Damage is done, but you can prevent more.

AOC: Fox News and the right-wing would have you believe that these American values are something out of The Communist Manifesto. But let me tell you Fox News, I don’t believe in healthcare, labor, and human rights because I’m a Marxist.. I believe it because I was a waitress.
