The truth about bus lanes: bus drivers hate them because car drivers are maniacs.

Congratulations to our 2025 Wedgie Award Winner for Worst Pundit, Mike Norton. He wins this award both for his pre-election predictions and for his post-election analysis. Mike, in these dark times, you are truly a beacon of wrong.

On today's episode: Josh Martin opens up about what took him down a path of extremism: from Kate Knuth doorknocker in 2021 to Omar Fateh's treasurer in 2025.

Plus, reaction and analysis to last week's election results.

2025 didn't just have the highest number of voters, it had the lowest percentage of down-ballot apathy in the race for Board of Estimate & Taxation in at least the last three mayoral elections. Undervote rate (people leaving this race blank) went down from 34% to 27%.

Two candidates who each received about a half percent of the vote for mayor (Brenda Short & Laverne Turner) are casting doubt on results by falsely claiming the city clerk's office is under the direction of Mayor Frey. Press conference Monday about "discrepancies."

Who knew that Professor Hot Dog Larry Jacobs would be the test case proving the old adage "yard signs don't vote, bicycle signs do."

Really disappointed in this offensive sign displayed in the window of the Uptown UPS store.

For the sake of completeness, I've extended my dollars per vote chart to include the top two candidates in each ward. Bob Carney is your true great value champion at zero dollars per vote.

This is money RAISED in 2025 per vote received, as of the pre-general filing deadline.

Becka Thompson wins the Great Value Award for the council candidate with fewest dollars spent per vote received - $4.21. She still lost big to Aurin Chowdhury ($6.47).

Shelley Madore ($62.31) outdid Lydia Millard ($42.59) for biggest spender per vote. Both of them lost big.

Here's a ward map if you need it.
November 7, 2025 at 12:04 AM
Becka Thompson talking about "skills and temperaments" is something. The real "low information voters" are the ones who put Becka over 30%.

One of the all time greats. I have a Jason Garcia poster in my childhood bedroom.

If I identify with any post election truther movements, it's Koski truthers.

Cemetery monument for a state senator who died in the 70s captures my feelings about Jason Garcia going into battle with their insides all torn up — and defeating an endless series of opponents, with the final boss seemingly spending more time unconscious than Jason.

Uptown cat spent all night poring over the results and campaign finance reports, laughing at the ward 10 dollar per vote ratios. Spent all day sleeping in the sunlight.

It's golden here at the cemetery.

Blotter: Guy in the Wedge carrying a pile of discarded Millard campaign lit he found on the streets. Don't be alarmed, he's not a Millard campaign worker, the election really is over. He just hates trash.

To all those getting my hopes up with breathless predictions of JAZZ WINS, turn in your pundit badge and report to pundit jail.
November 5, 2025 at 8:29 PM
Big money and fear produced some big wins in key council races for Team Frey, but progressives know they need to scratch and claw all the way down their ballot for park board and BET.
November 5, 2025 at 4:42 AM
I'll let math people tell me if this adds up to 2 out of 3 seats for progressives in the at large park races.

Putting the Minneapolis election in terms even a dummy could understand. These are city council wards statistically matched with their equivalent US state, as measured (mathematically) by their tendency to vote progressive or anti-progressive.

"Precarious State" YouTube channel making extensive use of Wedge LIVE podcast footage in an election eve hit on Aisha Chughtai. This is not as sweet and wholesome as it appears.

Depressing worst case prediction from Brauer. But pundit Mike Norton on the other site says Jazz will appear on enough ballots to win it all.
