The only way that Jay Bhattacharya can say that banned words lists are made up is to lie about them.
Jay Bhattacharya says that Program Officers made up banned words lists at NIH.

This is a real email I got at NIH. (Granted, before Jay started.) But nothing has changed since he joined.

I refused to censor the summary, so it remains unposted. And I have tried since Jay arrived.

I’m all for more NAMS, but it has its limits. There are no LLMs or organs-on-a-chip that can model viral pathogenesis, vaccine efficacy, or candidate drugs. We only use animals when there is no other choice.

This will only stop more lifesaving research.

Best case he turns off Apr 2nd tariffs Monday. Leaves the 10pct tariffs (not great, but realistic). Elon leaves Doge, which decides to stagger the cuts over 3 yrs, accounting for local impact.
That slows the economy, reducing interest rates, reducing payments on debt to affordable levels.

The people pushing the lab leak theory want a major crackdown on viral research, precisely the kind of work that will prevent the next global pandemic. The more extreme lab-leakers want to jail scientists and shut down public health institutions entirely.
Maybe it’s just because I have not dived into it to any meaningful degree, but I don’t understand the stakes of the lab-leak theory. What does it do for people who propound it? What would it challenge or undermine if it were proved true?
I get that this sounds plausible to lots of people but it is not congruent with the evidence!

Genetic data indicates the virus didn’t come directly from bats. The Wuhan lab ONLY studied bat viruses.
