Coyote Time (letting the player jump a bit after they leave the ground) is huge for gamefeel.

Combine with Jump Buffer (executing a jump once they land if they pressed it a bit early) to maximize.

Bonus: spawn the jump particle at the last grounded position to hide the coyote time :)

participated in a speedrun contest for @unsentgames.bsky.social and when a fellow runner discovered a route-shattering OOB strategy 50 minutes before the deadline the race was on and at literally 11:59pm I hit this run

PAX was an incredible experience.

Got to meet so many amazing people, the reception to @mrsleepyman.bsky.social was exactly what we were hoping to see, got to show off some Slime 64, and finally met @myles.zone IRL after 15 years!!!

I think it's a good note to take back on myself that the trailer might not be leaning into the parts of our game that do more directly take visual inspiration, like some of these screenshots

but really that's just it - the inspirations go far beyond the visual/technical

at its heart I do understand the criticism that we don't follow the technical limitations of the N64, but I hope the combo of our art direction, character design, music/sound design, and overall Vibes show our love for the N64😅

Just like any musical instrument the only way to improve is by pushing your limits - great work!!

I also wouldn't sleep on the "-30% speed" modifier. I find that helped me begin to understand when hands needed to cross over each other

over the weekend I did some work ensuring the game works at aspect ratios ranging from 32:9 (SUPER ultrawide) all the way to 4:3 (the OG). If people want to run the game with crunchy CRT visuals, but on a crazy wide monitor, who am I to stop them lmfao
