I think more like double that number. Hard to get full sense, but as well as the gardens being packed, George St was full between Charlotte and Queen St, Elizabeth full from North Quay to the Myer Centre carpark. Many also on North Quay.

3. I'm constantly struck by the extent to which people take their freedoms for granted - the freedom of speech, the freedom to vote, workers' rights, weekends, holidays, pensions ... - as if they simply fell out of the sky.
They were achieved at great cost by our political ancestors.

This is how authoritarian regimes test the waters. The first disappearance is a warning. If no one fights back, the next one comes easier. And the one after that. Until fear replaces resistance.

Wow. I thought I had some kind of record being on a jury 5 times (from 4 summons), but mine was over about 20 years. I know people who have never been called.
