Then you have to find somewhere to store your huge metal box before you can get out and walk freely around the city.

Cars don't offer freedom in cities - quite the opposite; they're incredibly inconvenient. The reason you can't get where you want to be? The big metal box you've surrounded yourself with just doesn't fit.

After an evening function last night. Someone commented on the "hard-core" folk who would ride home afterwards in the rain. Biking is the easiest and quickest option for many events if you count door to door travel.

End of year drinks with fellow bike advocates last night. Yes, you can cycle to/from an evening function in smart attire. Plenty of creative ways to deal with a long skirt, but I usually just go with a knot and/or the hair clip I remove to put my helmet on.

Getting off the gas! I wish I'd known much more about the climate impacts, cost, and indoor air quality of "natural" gas 10 years ago when building my home. Very happy now with a heat-pump hot water system and induction cooktop. Gas gone!
