The route features some hills, with a climb out of Canterbury at the start, but you'll be rewarded for your efforts, with fantastic views out over Whitstable from the highest point of the track.

The Crab and Winkle Way is a 7.6-mile route on the National Cycle Network, connecting Canterbury and Whitstable.

The 7.6-mile route takes you between the cathedral city of Canterbury and the harbour of Whitstable. The route is mostly traffic-free, taking you through Blean Woods, one of the largest areas of ancient broadleaved woodland in southern Britain 🍃

It costs on average around £2.48 to maintain a metre of the Network every year. This includes repairing surfaces, managing vegetation growth and keeping drains and ditches free and flowing.

“I use my trike to go shopping. I’ve got a local supermarket I can cycle to. The Gloucester part of National Cycle Route 41 it is actually really lovely because it comes up the canal and then it cuts through Gloucester around the cathedral.

The 165-mile north section of the route takes you from Berwick-upon-Tweed to the Yorkshire market town of Settle, taking in some of the most spectacular and unspoilt countryside that England has to offer along the way.
