Kids have sometimes gotten irritated with me when I’ve refused to do round-robin or popcorn reading, but I think that’s because those approaches are all that they’ve known. They’ve begged before to do this, but they also would like to eat cookies and cake all day, too.

Snow is in the forecast, so I’m using some Christmas gift cards to make sure that I have enough reading material. One of my students gave me peppermint hot chocolate which will be perfect for a snowy reading day.

Today’s game @uvamenshoops.bsky.social had us on the edges of our seats! The atmosphere at JPJ was electric and this was definitely one of the best Christmas gifts and I hope that we’ve started a new tradition😁 #GoHoos

My answer: If you write, you’re a writer. You don’t need to be published to say that.
If you want to be a *published* writer, the key is persistence. I became a writer in fourth grade; I wasn’t published till my mid-30s.

Santa visited our pre-K class this morning. When my second graders caught a glimpse, they were so excited, but my fifth graders were even more excited! They begged to go down the hall to look for Santa!

I’ve been looking through some of the photos I snapped during last night’s @UVAMensHoops game. Again, thank you @UVABasketball for providing such great tickets! My husband and I loved being so close to the action! We appreciate our student-athletes and their work to balance academics & basketball!

I introduced a group of fifth graders to syllabication and I’ve never had students so excited to figure out multisyllabic words! They were able to decode words that they would have normally given up on. We also had linked to vocabulary with many of the words (compartment, parcel) today. #EduSky
