There are 435 seats in congress, probably a dozen governors, and 33ish senators.

That means I will only need to text STOP another 450 times in response to texts for donations.

And that's just the federal level. And just this cycle

MAKE IT STOP. Like STOP. STOP.

Just had a Boris Grishenko moment at work.

I mean, I know how he ends up in Goldeneye, but I'm talking about the "I AM INVINCIBLE!" part...

Wow, Seattle. Looks like the progressive candidate is going to unseat the current mayor... now leading by 91 votes.

SF and Seattle are taking kind of different paths here. That's pretty interesting.

The AI industry really owes its existence to Python. Ask any AI researcher or infrastructure developer and they will tell you that.

You don't want DEI, then don't use Python. But then maybe using AI is a little bit hypocritical?

Python Foundation Donations Surge After Rejecting Grant - But Sponsorships Still Needed - Slashdot
After the Python Software Foundation rejected a $1.5 million grant because it restricted DEI activity, "a flood of new donations followed," according to a new report. By Friday they'd raised over $1...

Just upgraded to macOS 26.1 and wtf?

The major upgrade seems to be that launcher and other icons are washed out, smeary and hard to see now?

It appears that there is a setting to undo the Liquid Glass from clear to tinted. But defaults matter and this is extremely ugly and user-hostile.

What?

I will give MTG one chance to redeem herself, but only if she does it *completely*.

I think that's true of almost any politician.

I never seen it actually happen (probably career-ending), but I will give even the most vile people (up to a point) a second chance.

But not a third.

They start out shaky (might also be the mixing a bit too) but it gets way better.

They are still an amazing vocal group that is great at setting up a groove...

WA state (and King County) residents - curious that we don't get ballot count updates continuously as they are counted. Is this a normal thing?

Also, no confirmation that my ballot was collected/counted yet - that's not normal... (and it's not just me).

All this is kinda anti-climactic.
November 5, 2025 at 7:50 PM
It's kinda weird that more than 12 hours after ballots closed, we've only gotten one update from @elections.kingcounty.gov about ballot results?

Back in San Mateo county (CA), where I used to be, ISTR that we would get like hourly updates on counts? Also a mail-in election county...

Every place I've lived or ever considered living has a little free library.

And this now.
Ahead of the 1st shutdown of US food aid to hungry Americans in 60 years, some of the 200,000 Little Free Library locations are converting into food pantries. Thanks @littlefreelibrary.bsky.social

People are focused on Cuomo (as they should be) but OMG, the Islamaphobia and racism presented by Bartiromo as a "legitimate" question.

Can you imagine if she questioned a candidate's fitness because they were Jewish, Catholic or Protestant (or white)?

It's straight-up bigotry and it's pathetic.
So here's Andrew Cuomo reacting to Maria Bartiromo wondering if Mamdani will "change the look of New York" and have Muslim women "completely covered up," telling her that Mamdani "doesn't understand New York culture" because he has "dual citizenship" and "he's a citizen of Uganda."

Been using waymos a lot in SF. Hint: they are way safer (if a little confused at times) drivers than humans.

And if you can handle SF traffic then Seattle should not be a problem. Definitely not an issue in Bellevue...

For now, all of the vehicles are being operated with drivers behind the wheel. The company said this is to familiarize the cars’ system with the region’s weather and road signage.
