It would be more efficient for public works to just light our tax dollars on fire at this point, since we haven’t seemed to have solved wire theft yet.

It’s almost like a lil walk down memory lane of every single theater, non-profit, other arts organization, and advocacy group you’ve ever interacted with ever coming back to say hi. 👋 🫴

Yup, she’s gonna be awesome in that role once she resoundingly crushes that election! (If he even runs again, which I kind of doubt)

Yes. And also maybe after the 40th citation and the third violation of a domestic violence restraining order you don’t get to roam free anymore.

Agree that is a challenge, but a lot of people are successfully living car free here in the metro. He should have never been allowed behind the wheel with the driving offenses. And with the assault stuff…prison, imo. Letting people like him walk means someone dies, usually a woman.

Yeah. That is pretty appalling.

Just learned that the murderer had a rap sheet a mile long. Good to get this context. Better street design is for sure always needed, but this dude should have been locked up with key discarded. No respect for life or civil society here.

Only if it’s to say that the building is perfectly fine and that any talk of (another) renovation or building a new arena is completely absurd.

We are getting an SRO-ish project in West 7th soon: 36 units arranged in 6 “pods”, each with 6 locking bedroom/bathrooms and a common kitchen and living area. Same developers as who did that other higher density infill project you wrote about in the ‘hood.

⬆️⬆️⬆️ 100% this.

Yup. Because traffic calming is “too expensive.”
Or “would slow down emergency vehicles.”

I just read the pioneer press story about what happened. Every pedestrian death is horrific but this one….my god. Walking your dogs with your partner at your side and suddenly murdered by a reckless driver who leaves the scene? unimaginable.

Unfortunately, the basic problem (bigger than the issues with DCs) is that change is made by those who show up and it’s almost all volunteer labor. It’s not just rich retired people who show up in W7th. We reserve half of our board seats for renters. Everybody on our board still has a full time job.

You make some good points. Personally I’m very proud and grateful of what my DC has done: (way before my time) they fought for multiple low-income housing projects, saved/rehabbed dozens of older homes from demolition and then sold them to families, shut down slumlords, I could go on.

Ooh! Good to know. Love me some Lu tributes.
