Gusty winds that ushered in a wintry airmass damaged an FM broadcast tower in southeastern Minnesota on Wednesday.

The tower is home to Leighton Media's 95.3 KGSL(FM) in Winona, and two FM translators.

Thousands of pieces of broadcast, audio, video and computer equipment used by Radio Free Asia in Washington, D.C., are being auctioned through Dec. 1.

There are consoles, microphones (lots) and recorders. Plenty of networking equipment, too.

A radio studio in Lewiston, Idaho, the home for KRLC(AM) for nearly 80 years, was burned down Thursday as part of a fire training exercise. 🧯

Until 2023, it was the home for KMOK(FM), KVTY(FM) and the now silent KRLC.

The FCC unanimously voted to advance its proposal to reallocate spectrum in the upper C-band at its open meeting.

As Elle Kehres explains, it now seeks comment on how to accommodate incumbent satellite users, as well as radio and TV stations using the spectrum for satellite distribution. 🛰️

The Corporation for Public Broadcasting and @npr.org reached a settlement late Monday evening in a dispute over public media distribution.

While each side got something they wanted, tensions linger. CEO Patricia Harrison pushed back on accusations that CPB “kowtowed” to the Trump administration.

Neal Ardman, who owns FMs in Georgia and Florida, sent a cease and desist letter to Volkswagen of America over the visual alteration of RDS and HD Radio metadata. 🚗

He says visuals displayed on his Porsche Taycan GTS, manufactured by VW, are often outdated or inaccurate.

I've followed the Philly radio scene for quite a while, and Wednesday was as tough of a day as it gets.

We lost both Harry Donahue of KYW and the legendary Pierre Robert of WMMR. They each spent decades on the air in the Delaware Valley.

Tesla's 2026 entry-level Model Y Standard and Model 3 Standard trims will not come with either an AM or FM radio. NAB said in response that removing broadcast radio from vehicles is a "disservice to millions of drivers."
