Seems this way.
Never-Trump conservatives have infinitely more anti-authoritarian fire than mainstream Dem politicians.
Never-Trump conservatives have infinitely more anti-authoritarian fire than mainstream Dem politicians.
So like, is the divide in the Democratic Party now between the “can we please just pretend things are normal ASAP” faction and the “we will not rest until we refresh the tree of liberty with the blood of the tyrants” faction
And Dem leadership is in the first while the electorate is in the second

I was inspired by Saul Griffith’s awesome graphs to expand on some ideas for how to make the most of rooftop solar power without whole-home batteries.
Hope this sparks ideas for others.

DIY Decarbonization #13: Making the Most of Rooftop Solar Power… Without Batteries
I recently came across a Substack post from Saul Griffith, in which he shared graphs (including the one above) of how the electricity consumption of various appliances in fully-electrified homes do…

This is good and important.
The moment is too important to ‘other’ others in the coalition against fascism.
Believe in the rule of law and the humanity of all others? Great - hop in and we’ll sort out the rest on the way.

Pay where? Which fund or account? Under whose control? Journalists should be asking these questions for EVERY fine or penalty or "deal" wrangled by the Executive.

Boeing won't face criminal charge over 737 Max crashes that killed hundreds of people
As part of a deal to dismiss the case, Boeing agreed to pay or invest an additional $1.1 billion in fines, compensation for the crash victims' families, and internal safety and quality measures.

Revolting, but the world must know and the guilty must be held to account.
If this evidence ever sees the light of day, I want prosecutors, judges, and juries to see it, but I have absolutely no interest in viewing any of it.

We have a precedent for this: Bitcoin miners ran this exact gauntlet. They tried a bunch of greenwashing narratives ('we're burning excess methane' etc) but landed on demand response
The problem: the 'good' only undoes a tiny fraction of the bad; resulting in net bad

If you don't know what this is about: imagine someone idles their SUV in front of a school 24/7, 365 days a year, and then gets paid a very large amount of money to not do that for a few hours a year on the days that there are fuel supply limitations
I’m not easily pushed to rage, but finding out that ERCOT is paying crypto-mining companies tens of millions of dollars NOT TO MINE to conserve power makes me want to chuck my phone across the room.

Based on active projects, we expect the number of US colleges and universities with a greater than 50% decarbonization of Scope 1 emissions will at least double by 2030, with several schools likely to achieve >70% reductions. 4/6

These graphs illustrate opportunities for household load shifting to take advantage of cheap solar energy during midday.
I will use some of these strategies to reduce our carbon footprint, though our net metering tariff won’t incentivize this behavior.

Electricity "too cheap to meter" is so... 1975. FREE ELECTRICITY is 2025!
The Australian electricity market is showing the world where we are going. American friends please make rooftop solar cheaper. Then you can have nice things (and free electricity!).

The end of this video from @hcrichardson.bsky.social is important.
She says the work we are doing now to articulate our vision for the future and build the political organization to make it happen is precisely what is needed.
Rising leaders will run on that, just like Lincoln did in the 1850s. 1/
