Yeah I just think that's a recent American social assumption. Women kept fresh flowers as decoration throughout the 19th and 20th centuries. That's how 12 red roses became associated with romance, bc that was what you bought for your wife or gf. But women bought themselves lots of other flowers.

I recall being quite young and a man who was not my boyfriend who liked me in a romantic crush kind of way, made what he thought was the pithy observation that I rarely laughed for his jokes but I did laugh for media. Implying I was stupid or something for laughing at movies or music but not him.

He did this to 34 other minor girls and 5 adult men. He was sentenced to almost 11 years in the Netherlands and an additional 13 years in Canada where Amanda lived.
In Jan he had the audacity to appeal to dismiss the Canadian sentencing proving his lack of remorse. It was denied.
