Santa reassuringly touches Death's shoulder and says "you did." Death open the present under the watchful eye of his scarf-wearing crow companion. The box contains a solar panel charger, headphones... ...And an old mp3 player shaped like a skull, with the control wheel in one of the eye sockets. Death dons the headphones, content. Death glides and dances thru the snow happily, listening to the music.

Santa says he saw Death listening under windows of human houses. Death is embarrassed again, explaining rapidly that they miss music, but without the internet around, they have to listen in to when humans play it, like they did during the Middle Ages. Santa gives Death a gift. Santa explains that since Death was technically a human that "believes" in him, he prepared a gift out of habit. Death replis that they didn't get Santa anything in return.

Winter Song Part 2 (Thread 1/5)

Following part 1, part of this comic begins with the grim reaper, a little embarrassed, asking Santa Claus where he is headed after this. Santa replies that since he no longer visits homes on Christmas Eve, he hosts a rather impressive party instead. Santa talks about the party, and we see a sketch of it behind a panel with Santa and Death talking. He invites Death to join, and mentions that the party is a lively affair with elves, ghosts, old winter spirits, and mrs Claus, of course. Santa continues to talk, in narration boxes over a sketch of him in a more traditional Santa suit, surrounded by children. Santa says that while he is lucky to be here with friends and family, every Christmas Eve, all he can think of is the past.

the only good thing about genAI is that it got me to really love seeing bad art, because I know a person put in time and effort, made themselves vulnerable by showing it to others, and is trying to improve. I value that more than anything now

A few people asked if I was ever interested in developing a pilot…and yeah I’ve made a few pitch bibles over the years! It’s disappointing how little is being made and how more studios are moving forward with AI, so hope seams a bit bleak. Glad there’s so much indie stuff now!
