I practice personal law at a queer law firm, am a big fan of my wife, my kid, Roller Derby, romance novels, dogs and places I can walk to.
I am also fine with no gravy. Hollindase sauce is the thing I think goes on the table for that.

I keep forgetting people do that to green beans. Doing them with butter, lemon juice and almonds is the family tradition and I didn't have the casserole thing until I was an adult. That can absolutely go. Not a nice thing to do to green beans.

Something people love is something people remember to bring.

And people who feel seen feel empowered.

I don't understand how that is hard.

So much time pushing oyster crackers into cream and butter for something that just never was as tasty to me as the cornbread dressing.

But it makes a great southern food horror recipe.

But you can imagine how well this all went over with the people who were NLG.
November 22, 2025 at 9:49 PM
Yeah it is really more a counterpart to the Kawanis club
November 22, 2025 at 9:49 PM
And still are, you still see NLG lawyers and students at protests as legal observers and doing jailhouse support.

It just doesn't get you a clerkship.

The National Lawyers Guild has existed since 1937, it is older than the Federalist Society.

The problem is their missions crystal clear "Civil rights before property rights" so they don't have mainline democratic support instead you get weaksuace like ACS.

But no we were there first.
November 22, 2025 at 9:42 PM
(And I think they have a bigger budget than the NLG and do less with it imnsho)
November 22, 2025 at 9:40 PM
They do protest support as an ongoing mission but have other things that come and go as needs and missions change. It is just really frustrating to have someone talk about the ACS like the problem with it is being new instead of the problem being it is the weaksuace option for resume builders
November 22, 2025 at 9:39 PM
But there was never a mission gap there, like "Human Rights before Property Interests" is dead clear, it is also older then the FedSoc founded in 1937 because the ABA wouldn't integrate
November 22, 2025 at 9:34 PM
This whole discussion is so weird because the National Lawyers Guild is what I thought of as the counter balance and it exists and is active, it just is leftist so it doesn't have mainline democratic political support.

I also had an emergency csection and it was an ok experience but I think a lot of what made it ok was me being a nursing school drop out meant I understood more about what normal looked like, for example that the baby would be out before the surgery is over.

And that leaves people vulnerable to people who do have more time to go more slowly and figure out how to build trust relationships.
November 22, 2025 at 5:58 PM
I feel like we have systems focused on the information and diagnostic stuff so the whole relationship building and trusted resource thing ends up being not available or values into he official systems
November 22, 2025 at 5:57 PM
The time it takes a professional to convey information is often a lot less than it takes to build a trusted relationship.
November 22, 2025 at 5:55 PM
Thank you.

The only thing I had heard about this year was the walk out and this was a second lovely thing to know about this year.

The problem is we have forgotten what they are supposed to do in our political system, their sacrifice fuels the passage of civil rights legislation.

I don't know what we missed out on with Ted and RFK.

We told kid no pointe until their growth plates are fused and they are cleared by a dance PT. They also have to be able to get to the studio on their own because of the hours...

Right now they are just eight and haven't decided on blockers or not, so we will see but yeah trying to avoid too soon.
November 22, 2025 at 1:43 AM
Ours is far too tiny for pointe but I try not to think about how expensive it will be if they decide to go that way. It is terrifying.
November 22, 2025 at 1:33 AM
Congratulations to the kid and also I am sorry, that is a lot of shoes.
