Today is officially the end of something, start of something.. not exactly sure what to call it but today is the day I reversed the direction of the ceiling fan. Not planning on needing the cooling effects anymore until spring. Not exactly the start of winter, but adjacent?

It’s a fun time to have a gay, trans son because now I get to do thought experiments, like in the future will my state/country recognize my son’s marriage as a gay marriage or will they refuse to recognize his gender so on paper his marriage appears straight?

Had an issue with Verizon recently- our plan comes with a call blocker feature meant to block spam calls. For the past three days, my dad’s (who is definitely in my contacts, I have him marked to alert in ALL modes) calls have all gone to voicemail, as if he was spam.

One thing that sucks about middle age is if you have any trusted service provider that you found when you entered adulthood, they are probably retiring. My PCP, my psychiatrist, and my dentist have all retired after over a decade of being their patient.

“As a neurodiversity advocate and as an autistic person, I’m really grateful for so much of the work that’s been done that allows me to be myself and to be successful being myself.” Link, who has been *banned*!?!? from this platform?

His only strategy to end the shut down is to dangle federal workers in front of Dems. “I’m gonna torture these hostages until you give me what I want” is his strategy. Bold strategy to be a terrorist against and the head of an organization.
Q: Why do you say some federal workers should not get their backpay?

TRUMP: Well, you're gonna have to figure that out. Ask the Democrats

Should have never happened in the first place, but I’m glad this was reversed, and quickly! Good to see our UNC system is not totally captured by fascists.

I think this type of reporting that note Trump’s absence from the public are so helpful. Not because I think “did he die” discourse is important, but bc if it spreads to MSM he is pressured into showing his face. Challenges his ego, he will override advisors who are trying to shield him from us.
Trump has not been seen in public since Tuesday and has no public events on his calendar today

I feel like a whole lot of people in positions of power and authority owe all the young people graduating in computer/STEM degrees a huge apology.

Last week yall did a lot of doomering on this website, lets make a plan together to not let the fascists dictate the tenor of our feelings or the content of our discussions by simply saying something scary. This week lets don't afraid and set an example of courage for ourselves and our communities

What’s kinda crazy is that after all the political wrangling and centrist shaming that forced university’s to allow so many of these RW hate purveyors access to college campuses, this shooting might actually slow that down.

Is MAGA unintentionally reversing long held gender roles in America? Hear me out- first, they are targeting young men with the message that college is a waste, and they should pursue physically demanding trade jobs which have less upward mobility and hard to make it to retirement age.
Poll: Gen Z's gender divide reaches beyond politics and into its views on marriage, children and success
Gen Z men who backed Trump in 2024 rated having children at the top of a list of choices of how to define personal success. Gen Z women who backed Harris rated it second to last.

I have been thinking a lot lately about young men in America, and the current focus on some unique crisis they are experiencing. My first reaction when this became a hot topic was anger. I’m still extremely enraged that women (esp young women) have lost their rights to bodily autonomy.

I know we are all enjoying dunking on Bill Belichick and UNC right now, but can we expand our mocking to the NCGOP hostile takeover versions of the UNC board of governors and board of trustees that green lit this whole situation?

This is just a month ago. You can see how fragile and arthritic my boy Otis was. But he was still obviously enjoying life. He went down hill from here. Could barely stand up out of his bed in the morning. So thankful I got to have this good boy in my life for 14+ years. Our home is so quiet now.

I haven’t been on Bluesky much recently-summer has been very busy. Have my son home from college, which is wonderful. But my bestest boy Otis has been basically on doggie hospice for months now. We had to say goodbye yesterday. Had him since he was a pup, for 14 wonderful years, my heart hurts.

I know we agree that Congress Dems are too old, and we need younger blood.. but y’all I’m still very happy about this! Cooper has won four statewide elections in NC. He is well known and respected. He has moderate “vibes” but he governed pretty progressively. Strong on women’s and trans rights.
“Former North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper has decided to run for North Carolina’s open U.S. Senate seat and plans to announce his campaign before the end of the month, people familiar with the Democrat’s plans told WRAL News.”

BS Stephen Miller, my city (Cary NC) is about 25% foreign born, and it is consistently ranked as one of THE safest cities in the country. We have had a sharp increase in boba spots not crime.
Stephen Miller: "We have communities all across this nation that 20 years ago, before the era of open borders, were completely peaceful, completely stable. Look at a place like Minneapolis. Post mass migration they're unsafe, they're violent, you cannot use the public parks."
