I'm currently travelling in Croatia and have been basking in the beauty of this country. I fell in love with Zadar as soon as my ferry pulled into its harbour, so of course I had to write a poem about it: vivello.substack.com/p/ode-to-zadar

As we climbed above the clouds on my flight to Vienna, I thought about what a crazy thing it is that flying is so now so normal for humans. Those feelings inspired a bit of #avgeek poetry. You can read it here :) vivello.substack.com/p/the-miracl...

The way someone dances can say a lot about their personality. I wrote a poem about this dynamic, framed as a dancefloor interaction.

I went to see La Vie en Rose at the Shaw Festival and enjoyed it so much that I wrote a poem about it. The production was an ode to Paris — its streets, stories, and songs. I reminisced about my own trip as I mused on the immortal quote, "we'll always have Paris"

What if we danced by the lake as the sun slipped below the horizon and fireflies flickered around us?

Tell me have you seen a sunset,
Turn into a sunrise,
Kiss right through the night,
‘Cause we should try that sometime,
Hold you ’til the morning,
And if I said I’m falling,
Would you just reply,
“I know you are but what am I”

Someone please explain to me how it took my coworker over a month to not even produce the code necessary for an update that took me only ONE AFTERNOON to write?

If in my D&D game I named one of the executives of a monopolistic business interest “J. J. Vandergrift” everyone would groan.

But that’s the actual name of an actual Standard Oil man.

Dinner party goals
We just hosted a dinner party and someone said, “I wonder where the word raspberry comes from?” I leapt up, shouted, “LET’S FIND OUT” and ran to my study, emerging a moment later with Skeat’s Etymological Dictionary (1883). (This is why I don’t get invited to parties.)

Honestly in awe of people who seem to have it all. What do you mean you're gorgeous, a great dancer with a lovely singing voice, flawlessly articulate & tasteful across a wide range of subjects, AND super smart & high-achieving?! Please explain yourself.

Actually understanding how taxes work is so annoying. I love the happy lil zen task of filling out my tax return and doing a bit of optimization for future years. But then I have to hit submit and cough up the cost of my tax efficiency scheming. *sigh* the consequences of my own actions...

Advance poll participation has been high for this Canadian federal election. The level of civic participation is encouraging. I hope we make good choices as a nation.
