A excerpt from the newsletter: Chao Shuozhi highlights the game of cuju when describing Emperor Xuanzong as his own emperor, Huizong, was also a cuju fanatic who established dedicated playgrounds for public matches and sponsored games with drum corps and cheering squads not unlike the marching bands and cheerleaders of modern American football. However, its particular popularity with the elite might make golf the closest modern equivalent to cuju. One of Huizong’s unconventional political appointments included elevating a skilled cuju player, 高俅 Gāo Qiú, to the role of general despite a lack of military experience. The corruption and incompetence of Gao Qiu is cited as a key reason that the Northern Song fell so easily to the Jurchens. Imagine if the US president made Tiger Woods the Secretary of Defense!

I prefer to set to Warn rather than Hide so that I can be the one to choose if I want to view the content or not. I see a "Show" option on the Adult Content label for the article in the post and these are my Moderation settings:

The overall "Enable adult content" toggle is set to On and the categories Adult Content, Sexually Suggestive, and Graphic Media are set to Warn. Non-sexual Nudity is set to Show. Even though vermillion is very much a shade of red, the name itself always makes me think of green. Its other name, cinnabar, better evokes red.

They were giving out cans of Red Bull in Toronto today! Felt very fitting given the race last night. Many many congrats to Max Verstappen for winning his 4th Formula 1 WDC title! His driving this season has been breathtaking 💙

Giselle was a delight to watch! I always have a good time at the National Ballet of Canada 💕 I was particularly enraptured by Genevieve Penn Nabity in her debut as Myrtha the vengeful Queen of the Wilis!
