Her group stopped at the center on their Jubilee Pilgrimage where they visited sacred sites all around the Acadiana area some of which are right here in #StLandryParish.

Since forming his band in 2010, his senior year in high school, Metoyer has performed at Gator by the Bay in San Diego and events in New York, Holland and France.

Their popularity is reflected in “King of I-10,” the title of their album released May 20. “She’s from Opelousas,” the album’s first single, enjoys frequent airplay on zydeco radio shows.

Proceeds from the sale of “A Tribute to the King of Zydeco” will benefit the Clifton Chenier Memorial Scholarship at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. The new scholarship fund will support ULL students studying traditional music, specifically zydeco accordion.

Valcour Records and Smithsonian Folkways mark Chenier’s birthday with a 7-inch single release pairing The Rolling Stones’ version of “Zydeco Son Pas Sales”. On the single, Mick Jagger sings the original Creole lyrics backed by Steve Riley on accordion. The single releases today.
