I was very into her for about a year, starting in the summer of 2005, after I had just graduated from college! Whenever I hear any of those songs from the Felt Mountain, Black Cherry, and Supernature albums, it instantly takes me back to that first year out of school.

I hear that! If I could go back to the early ‘00s, I’d tell my younger self to not get so enthralled with every new social media platform and not put so much of myself out for the world to see and consume.

Only tangentially related but I get flabbergasted when I click a link to a news article while on a mobile device and the site will be running a banner on the top of the page, on the bottom of the page, and also a pop-up in the middle, leaving literally only two or three lines of copy even visible.

I remember watching an episode of Pop-Up Video on VH1 about this special and the only thing I can concretely remember is that they figured out that Aretha Franklin made it an unspoken point to sing one octave higher and several decibels louder than anyone else on the stage

Not that I believe they’re even remotely qualified to throw their hat into the ring, but in fairness, Marjorie is probably looking around at the last 12 years and thinking, “What do I have to lose? I’m no less a viable candidate for the party’s nomination than any other politician or supporter.”
