Vanuatu is easily the best of an absolutely atrocious bunch in Oceania. The four colors count against it, but Vanuatu has lapped the competition several times over. The leaves and horn are nice, but ought to be bigger.

Asia is a really mixed bag flag-wise. You have the sameness of many of the Levantine flags, the overwrought fussiness of the central -stans, and some nice simple designs like Japan and Vietnam. South Korea chocks a ton of meaning and culture into a very simple design.

Africa has some of the best and many of the worst flags in the world. Though it uses four colors, the Maasai shield, like Canada, is instantly recognizable and native to the culture. A contender for best flag in the world.

Another win for Portuguese speakers. Similar to Brazil, the somewhat too complex armillary sphere and heraldic crest are offset by originality, from the colors to the 2:3 ratio of the columns. Also like Brazil, Portugal benefits from quite dull competition.

The South American flags are pretty weak, and the stars and words count against it, but the green field/yellow lozenge/blue circle design is original and eye-popping.

Instantly recognizable. A charge that represents the land. Fantastic.
