My first batch of my DIY hydrogel concept. I got tired of making a small serving every time, so I scaled up to make the measurements easier. I’ll iterate with each new batch! #runningsky

Made my own electrolytes with some stuff I got from a homebrew store + some leftover containers at home.

My mix is both hypotonic and measured to replace the sodium I lose when I sweat. The bottle is a repurposed mucinex bottle and the batch mixer is a butter tub with a metal ball thing inside

Ws: bombing down hills didn’t wreck my quads

Trekking poles are game changers

Got out of two cramp situations without much trouble

Ls: I need to be on top of my fuel and salt game. Lack of carbs and salt between miles 13-21 led to some cramps and brain fog

Run slow => stack a bunch of miles => stay injury free => build a monster aerobic base => get fast

Yowsers. The extra 2 km comes from missing a turn somewhere and circling back to get the official distance. Apparently I miscalculated? Not sure.

Anywho, I still can’t figure out how to get past mile 20 without cooking my legs. Started out slow, hit my stride halfway and still hit the wall.

You would thinking carb loading would be the easiest thing in the world, but I’m totally stuffed. I’m gunning for 500-600 grams of carbs/day for my upcoming marathon but I’m struggling to take in that much food 😅 #running
