Some days it feels like there are far more Waymos than usual. Maybe there’s a special event, or maybe there are fewer human driven cars out today, but I saw a few large caravans of Waymos that were sometimes 7-8 deep, all in the same lane.

The USA is not to be trusted. We must make new allies, and beef up our defence forces. That applies to Canada, the UK, Europe and Australia. And it's no good saying the US will be better after Trump has gone. 40% of Americans voted for him. And another 30% were too feckless to even bother to […]

As far as one can tell from this bonkers press conference it sounds like Trump thinks the Venezuelan regime is going to agree to let US companies run the oil industry in return for no further attacks.

Does Congress have any red line where they constrain Trump? He just unilaterally went to war against Venezuela. (Spare me any technicalities; we literally attacked them and kidnapped their president. That is effectively a declaration of war and he doesn’t have to put it on a scroll of parchment)

Trump's lawless foreign policy differs from GWB in one important way. Even though Iraq was a contrived conflict, America continued to pay lip service to symbolic norms of international law. Recovering America's global reputation after Trump is going to be much harder.

I‘m waiting for Trump to announce that he, noble FIFA peace president, has now ended a ninth war. Sure, it‘s one he started, but who cares about the details?

Another city, another Waymo robot unable to handle a traffic light outage, the day after Waymo's epic SF traffic light failure:

SW 27th Ave at SW 23rd St, Miami

Miami drivers prob aren't as used to this as SF, AZ, LA, Austin, & Atlanta drivers.

Who/what is training whom?

These are going around, but here's another version of the banned 60 Minutes piece (assuming a DMCA claim on the YouTube one is coming).

I think hearing from people who were sent to CECOT in their own words does add more to the story, but that's why I'm not Bari Weiss.

“San Franciscans deserve answers into why Waymo was unable to handle such a large-scale infrastructure failure, and what they plan to do about it in the future to mitigate these types of impacts,” Sup Mahmood

SFBOS may get Waymo to do better.

Across the street from City Hall, CPUC can make Waymo.
I am calling for a hearing at the Board of Supervisors into both PG&E and Waymo in light of the service disruptions during the blackout this weekend in San Francisco.

Another recent example of a human & sidewalk robot duet, in LA.

Serve is an Uber spinoff from their Postmates acquisition they wisely didn't want on their books. Serve's revenue covers 3% of their expenses.

A Waymo robot w passenger stopped for no good/apparent reason in the right lane of 101 just south of the Golden Gate Bridge toll booths where two lanes of 101 & a ramp all merge into one lane. After >2 min & several vehicles safely passed it, there was a bad crash of vehicles forced to go around it.

A Waymo robot nearly got hit when it pulled out into traffic on a steep San Francisco hill.

The limited (~fixed) field of view of robot sensors makes them less effective on steep slopes.

Early Waymo & esp Cruise avoided these slopes in SF.
