SFUSD schools will unfortunately be closed on Monday, February 9th.

Our teachers deserve better pay and healthcare. Our students deserve a stable and financially solvent school district. I urge the school district and labor unions to continue negotiations to re-open schools as fast as possible.

The Western Addition is grieving right now.

Tonight we hosted a packed town hall in the Tenderloin to bring together our city’s public safety leaders and community.

We covered what policies worked well last year, including more departmental coordination to tackle drug markets and to help those in need get connected to services.

$5 million in funding for affordable housing was secured in the Tenderloin over 10 years ago.

It was never spent.

A focus of my office this year will be on more transparency on the city budget, starting with affordable housing.

Tyranny begins when governments demonize their own citizens, turn neighbor against neighbor, draw guns to stifle dissent.

The moral bankruptcy across the globe, be it Minneapolis or Tehran, is one and the same.

Murder of protestors is tyranny. Full stop.
