With the federal government scaling back housing programs, I've said it's up to cities to chart our own destiny.

From NYC to SF, we are passing rezoning laws to pick up the slack.

B/c as @aoc.bsky.social notes: it's "important for us to include zoning in the conversation of building."

While power is restored, I understand and share in the frustration of how disruptive the outages have been for so many families and small businesses. These outages affect our ability to work, keep food safe, care for one another, and feel safe and secure in own homes.

We are calling a hearing into Waymo’s operations because no one is above accountability.

While autonomous vehicles can play a role in advancing our Vision Zero goals, all companies must operate responsibly. The traffic disruptions during this weekend’s blackout were dangerous and unacceptable.

PSA: Civic Center Power Outage Update
December 23, 2025 at 2:06 AM
Thousands are still without power due to PG&E outage in the Civic Center neighborhood, so the city is setting up a Civic Center Charging Station at 1235 Mission Street. to help those affected.

I am calling for a hearing at the Board of Supervisors into both PG&E and Waymo in light of the service disruptions during the blackout this weekend in San Francisco.

Update on San Francisco's power outage.

Power being restored to neighborhoods, but Civic Center still without power. Earliest estimate looks to be tomorrow afternoon.

I am working with Dept Emergency Management and Mayor's Office to get power restored as fast as possible.
PG&E Outage update.

Power restored to most of the city, but about 20,000 residents still affected.

In District 5, Civic Center is still seeing outages, and the city is working to restore power as fast as possible.

If your power is still out

1. Conserve phone battery and enable low-power mode on devices.

2. Keep flashlights, headlamps, and extra batteries nearby

3. Keep fridge / freezer doors closed; follow food safety guidance if outages continue

4. Avoid using candles—use battery-powered lighting instead

As the first South Asian elected to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, it was amazing to see Asian American trailblazers in comedy and political satire.

We can all stand to learn a little from their example of speaking truth to power while keeping us thoroughly entertained.

This afternoon I joined the Western Addition Senior Center to serve meals as we enter the holidays.

Over 400 seniors came by today for Friday Fish Day, with over 200 coming every day to the center for hot meals.

Thank you to Joe Tasby and team at the Senior Center for all you do for our community.

Good news—work on the Oak St. Quick-Build project is officially underway! This project will create a protected bike lane on Oak St. along the Panhandle and improve overall safety conditions for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers on one of SF’s high-injury streets.

That’s a wrap on our final coffee chat of the year!

Today, I met with neighbors in the Tenderloin and discussed street conditions, climate, and community engagement.

Be sure to subscribe to our District 5 Newsletter to stay updated on the next one.

Last week, a three-alarm fire in the Tenderloin displaced nearly 80 of our neighbors. This is an incredibly hard time for them, especially during the holiday season.

I’m excited to welcome Bitters & Bottles to District 5! I found their inventory of craft spirits, aperitifs, & so much more on their colorful shelves.

As someone who doesn’t drink, the aesthetic and countless options are still great to experience. Come check them out if you’re in the neighborhood!

My heart is with the family following this devastating loss. I spoke with the family and neighbors shortly after the incident, who are coming together to support one another.

The city is connected to the family and is providing services and support as they navigate this incredibly difficult time.

Nearly a decade ago, former Tenderloin Supervisor Jane Kim and the community helped negotiate funding for affordable housing at 101 Hyde Street, but those funds were lost in the bureaucratic shuffle.

My office fought to restore that funding to get plans for housing in the Tenderloin back on track.

San Francisco’s charter has a term-limit loophole that favors career politicians and shuts out new voices.

I’m introducing a ballot measure to close it by limiting service to two terms.

That’s it.

Because leaders should create paths for the next generation of leaders.
