My first encounter with Dan Dare was the 70’s 2000AD reboot, which is vastly different to the original (and which, admittedly, eventually became increasingly dumb) but I still love it.

(His original name was Cap, as in Captain America and Peggy Carter. But very quickly we realised he was incredibly whiney, so renamed him Jarvis, after the butler, instead)
