No, Britain did not get off lightly in the Trump tariffs. And no, it is not much of a vindication of Brexit. Or at the least seeing it is an economic dividend is to conveniently look away from the more substantial economic costs.

New writing from me.

If you want a sense of what Starmer and Europe are up against in combating not just the military might but twisted truths of the Putin regime, do watch the full interview I did this morning on the Sunday LBC show with former Putin adviser Sergei Markov. youtu.be/JGqAknD3vyc?...

A timely moment to remember that Donald Trump dodged the draft & JD Vance wondered a few short years ago whether he would turn out to be 'America's Hitler'...

Have now seen the full Oval Office video.

I think it is significant that the meeting was going quite well until JD Vance torpedoed it and suggested Zelenskyy had disrespected Trump. Unfortunately, Trump being so easy to manipulate, can work both ways.

Let’s get something clear. The GOP has the power to keep the government from shutting down in March. They control both chambers of Congress and the White House. If they can’t reach a budget deal within their own ranks, that completely on them.

Dems: Don’t lift a finger to help them. Not one.

To be fair - we should probably put NATO into administration and drive Europe to fill the defence space...

...a *complete* reversal of the previous dynamic, I am fully aware, but actually a huge opportunity for Europe (manufacturing, R&D, hard power, cybersecurity, procurement cohesion, etc, etc).

The notion that Ukraine should have held elections when a large chunk of its population were under enemy control and it has troops at the front line…

…is so farcical that I’m surprised Russia had the balls to push it.

That Trump didn’t comprehend the simple dynamics of it… less so. 💁🏻‍♂️
