Just a reminder that in US v. Nixon, the court unanimously (8-0) ordered the president to release the tape recordings and other materials. Nixon appointees Powell, Burger, and Blackmun all joined the opinion. Rehnquist, another Nixon appointee, who had worked as an Assistant AG, recused himself.
