A State Department employee shared with PBS News an image from inside the department. The image includes a piece of paper taped to a mirror with the words, "Colleagues, if you remain: RESIST FASCISM. Remember the oath you vowed to uphold."

This is a must read to understand SCOTUS’ 1am ruling and the legal context surrounding it.

Also, it’s never been more important to support the ferocious legal advocacy provided by the @aclu.org. If you’re not yet a member, do that today.
Just before 1 a.m., #SCOTUS stepped back into the Alien Enemy Act litigation with a (remarkable) ruling that suggests, among other things, that a majority of the justices is tiring of the Trump administration’s Calvinball.

144. The Supreme Court's Late-Night Alien Enemy Act Intervention
Just before 1:00 a.m., the justices (aggressively) stepped back into the Alien Enemy Act litigation—in a decision suggesting that a majority understands that these are no longer normal circumstances.

Bravo, Senator, and huge gratitude to all of his staff who made this ferocious and creative profile in courage action happen.
So many Americans are standing with you, Kilmer. We must bring you home.
I said my main goal of this trip was to meet with Kilmar. Tonight I had that chance. I have called his wife, Jennifer, to pass along his message of love. I look forward to providing a full update upon my return.

Are we ready to transition from imploring Democrats to “do something” to demanding that Republicans “remove him”? Or is that just me…

In St. Paul yesterday, the post-protest crowd at Dual Citizen Brewing Co clapped & cheered for everyone who came through the door with protest signs. Was such a warm, connected community vibe that we went back outside to get our signs just so we could come in again and get that welcome. #handsoff

The best example of “DO something” to date.

Found this so unexpectedly moving and hopeful, so validating. Thank you, @booker.senate.gov. We really needed this. 💙

Exactly.
It seems like when you write a decision giving the President king-like powers, you shouldn't be indignant when he acts like a king.

This. Placards and pink are NOT what we’re talking about when we tell you to *do something.* Meet the moment indeed.
Fight. Back.
Update—Democrats: Forget the signs. Call out the truth. Get loud. Take a stand. They kicked your colleague Rep. Al Green out for making his voice heard. Meet the moment. They would & have done this to you. Why are you rolling over & playing dead?

We are barreling towards authoritarianism at an astonishingly fast pace. Congressional Republicans have both the ability and responsibility to alter this course. If they remain silent, our democracy is dead.
America is on the cusp of competitive authoritarianism. The Trump administration has already begun to weaponize state institutions and deploy them against opponents. The Constitution alone cannot save U.S. democracy. www.foreignaffairs.com/united-state...

When you’re looking for examples of “institutional racism,” here’s a brand new example. Making America Redlined Again.
The US DOT says it's planning to prioritize areas with high marriage & high birth rates for funding.

Our new analysis @urbaninstitute.bsky.social shows this would disproportionately fund:
—Communities with a higher white resident share
—Low-density areas
—High-income areas
—Car-dependent areas
DOT’s Plan to Distribute Funding by Birth and Marriage Rates Would Leave Communities Most In Need Behind
If enacted, the new US Department of Transportation memo would prioritize funding to whiter, higher-income, more car-dependent areas over communities of color and people who walk, bike, or take public...

21 days without *any* Congressional Republican unequivocally condemning *any* piece of the destruction Trump has unleashed.

I should’ve started counting earlier but let’s start from here. How long will it take for a GOP Senator or Representative to publicly speak out?
Chris Murphy: "I think this is the most serious constitutional crisis the country has faced, certainly since Watergate. The president is attempting to seize control of power, and for corrupt purposes ... he's trying to crush his opposition ... this is a red alert moment ... our democracy is at risk"
