And I think it's why I respect GQX as a nostalgia trip more than Star Trek: Picard's third season or Ghostbusters Afterlife because, unlike those, it's not cynically trying to jack ME off, it's just the writers getting to jack THEMSELVES off, and that's more honest and artistically expressive.

Gundam as a franchise in general has a problem with UC/0079 referenceslop tbh, if sunrise had any inch of self respect they wouldn't have created Zechs Merquise
nostalgiaslop is one thing but there is a difference between keys jingling and the team behind the scenes actually caring about what theyre homaging and to me GQuuuuuuX is the latter

if I have to describe GQuuuuuuX the series with one word, it would be "Shameless." It's not ashamed to utilize old elements as its plaything, it's not ashamed to use those elements as springboard for what it itself is doing, and it's not ashamed to be super blatant about it.
