Kirk had absolutely ZERO commitment to the political liberalism of reasoned public debate that Klein thinks he believes in. He was a primary organizer of an attempt to violently overturn an election. If you wonder why liberalism is no longer a fighting faith, look no further.

Rhode Island passed a law banning mandatory anti-union employee meetings.
Union-busting law firm Littler Mendelson held a webinar for employers about the law.
And they essentially told employers... to break the law!
We got the transcript and the PowerPoint:

On a private webinar, Littler Mendelson attorneys said ‘risk-tolerant’ employers could ignore a Rhode Island ban, because anti-union meetings provide ‘tremendous value.’

Today, the stretch was temporarily closed because of too much congestion.

i really mean this pretty literally: yglesias cannot process the idea of believing in something. he only processes the world transactionally.

he thinks pursuing a cause that does not have a clear route to success is being a "dupe" because it does not fit neatly into some grand bargain.
