I’m dealing with a lot today.

Fridays used to be my day to be totally in the zone, getting work done.

Lately it’s been fire after fire.

Pretty sure the city has my work schedule and plans all of their roadwork projects to directly affect my work commute. There’s NO WAY that the four roadway options I have to take to work ALL have construction ALL at the same time. Yet, here we are. 🚧 👷

My 19 month old has mastered both running and screaming, but has also discovered that he can combine the two activities.

When I started doing graphic design in the mid-90s, I was attached to big Apple towers for computers (some of them made of BRUSHED STEEL!) and big, bulky monitors. Today, I can work literally from anywhere, set up shop in a minute on a computer the thickness of a book. The FUTURE!

Haven’t worked at this cafe in months, I come in and the only other person doing work is in MY SPOT.

Sheldon Cooper would not put up with it…

I’m about to do something I’ve never done before: get a second cup of coffee. ☕☕

Functioning on two hours sleep feels like running in wet cement that’s starting to dry.

It’s 1:48 am. It’s been 11 months. Sleep is still a distant memory.

Nearly 70,000 unread emails since 1999 on my “second” email address from the 90s.

I can’t type or say the name “Elizabeth” without using a Macho Man Randy Savage voice in my head.

My wish: to have an app that I can view my Micro.blog timeline, Mastodon timeline, and Bluesky timeline all in one app similar to how old pre-Musk Tweetdeck setup. It’d be both desktop and mobile.
January 10, 2025 at 3:56 PM
I’m waiting for someone at Micro.blog to be like, “dude… what the hell are you doing?”

Anyway, I think I fixed the whole Bluesky thing.
January 10, 2025 at 3:51 PM
I did this once… I was screaming big time about how good Chuck Wendig’s #StarWars books were.

I was in line at Wendy’s.
Look, I'm gonna say it again: how do you think people are going to find out about your stories if you DON'T say anything? Magic? Psychic powers? Oh, maybe the story will FLY through their WINDOW and land on their DESK!

Yell about your stuff! And other people's stuff!

Readers do not have ESP!
For those writers out there who feel nervous about promoting your work and potentially screaming into the void, let me just say: it works! Whenever I see a little bump in downloads/sales for past issues, it tends to coincide with one of that issue's writers talking about it somewhere. Don't be shy!

Foggy October morning. Pumpkin spice coffee in-hand. Deep breaths of the dense autumn air. 🍁🍂🍁☕

Part of my current and sudden #writing struggle is dealing with the notion that what I have to say isn’t worth anyone paying attention to.

How do I convince readers that what I have to say is worth their time?

To me… wasting someone’s time is a morbid sin.

Feeling guilty about not writing since the glory that was Blaugust.

I don’t have the energy to pretend I knew about #Blaugust.

Yep, never seen this before. Sounds like a good idea.

The summer of 2024, we are in between heatwaves. I didn’t even record the most recent heatwave. Another is slated for next week.

Considering a second job just to pay my electric bill.
