Like every poll in 2018 was super close but with a slight Gillum lead. Triaging FL-Gov in October 2018 would have been ludicrous to anyone paying attention.

The Republican equivalents of VT/MA/CA (in partisan bias terms) are like Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Mississippi.
The Dem TX/AK/KS are like Colorado, Illinois, and Oregon.

Even if we use your definition of “The Democratic Party” it’s definitely “cooking” to point out that it sure is convenient that Raskin represents the entire Democratic Party to a voter over this MTG thing, but not when he endorsed Mamdani.
